It's been a whole
like 3 days since I've written, so I don't have a ton to say. Ha my new P-Day
is on Friday now I guess, so that's when I'll be emailing until I leave the
MTC.
Since no one in our District got their Visas, and our MTC departure date is May
6, we each had to get reassignments, where we are temporarily sent to another
mission in the US until our Visas come. Sister Johnson is going to New York
Rochester, Sister Herrick is going to New Hampshire Manchester, others in our
district are going to Spokane, Orlando, and Philidelphia, and Sister Snow, Ritter,
Roos and I are staying in the Provo MTC for at least another week. WOHOO!!!
There were too many people needing reassignments, and we didn't get reassigned
in time, I guess, so we are staying another week!
To be honest... I was a little bummed. I put a smile on and skipped out of the
travel office, but I was kind of looking forward to leaving and starting this
big ol' adventure we call a mission, out in the field. I thought I would go to
California or Florida or Boston or something, but instead I'm here. Again. But
that bummed feeling didn't last too long. While it's not very exciting to stay
at the Provo MTC for another week, I know it's where the Lord needs me. Like
I've said since day one, if the Lord needed me in Brazil right now, There's not
a government on this earth that could stop it. If the Lord needed me in the
field right now, I would be there. But as of now, he has made it known that my
place is here. Whether it's because I need to learn more or have another
experience, or to help someone else here, I don't know. But my place is here.
And that's what the Lord wants. And I have turned these 18 months over to Him.
So that's good enough for me! I'll make an adventure out of it :) And I can't
explain my gratitude at having Sister Roos stay as well- we're in this
together. She's rather excited to stay longer. Last week we were all talking
about it, and she said she actually prefered to stay longer so she could keep
studying portuguese! So that's what we will be doing a little more of in the
next week :) We're going to try and make this extra week as worth it as we
possibly can! We're going to miss the rest of our district, particularly Sister
Herrick and Johnson. But that's OK- we'll keep in touch through email :)
Haha oh and Sister Roos and I got our 'Provo MTC' reassignment during the
In-Field Orientation. We came back and saw the elders in our district. They
were excited to see where our reassignment was. I decided to mess with them, so
I got this funny 'excited-but-trying-to-hide-it' face on and skipped awkwardly
over to them. They were like, "did you get your reassignment??" and I
said "yes"... they were on the edge of their seats,
"where???" Haha I said, "we have been reassigned... to the PROVO
MTC!!".... No reaction. Elder Olsen: "hahaha no seriously, where are
you going?" They didn't believe us for a solid 3 minutes hahaha it was
pretty funny :)
So that's pretty much my week right now! I still love being at the MTC! There
is an activity that they do with the new missionaries on the first night- I may
have mentioned it in my first email- where they have a group of new
missionaries group teach an investigator. To start the activity, they have
missionaries come in and set up the lesson, and start talking to the
investigator. Sister Roos and I were chosen to be one of the companionships
that does that! It was really awesome, and actually a great experience for us
to be able to talk to other investigators and really focus on how we teach, and
making sure that's going well, and finding ways to improve. It was great :)
Then yesterday, we had In-Field Orientation, which is like an all-day workshop
about working with members, finding people, etc. It was great- the MTC did a
good job of putting that together. :)
I'm at the point in my portuguese study where I can't speak English OR
Portuguese. It's ridiculous. I'm surprised this email has turned out the way it
has. I can't tell you how many times I've misspelled, misspoken, or been
confused. It's ridiculous. I get tongue-twisted all the time! But it's rather
entertaining :) I enjoy it and just laugh at myself, because I'm pretty darn
hilarious ;) ha not really, but I think so! And with Sister Roos and I focusing
more on portuguese in the next week, that will get even worse! But it will be a
blast :)
I think that's all I really have to say right now. Like I said, it's been like
3 days since I last emailed and there's not too many new things that have
happened. I still love the MTC. It's awesome :) I look forward to having big
meals already made for me in the cafeteria (by the way, let Becca Ray know that
they have unlimited Chelula here. I think of her every time I use it :)), and
unlimited chocolate milk, and our awesome teachers, and temple visits, and the
missionary field across the street, and seeing Sister Dixon and a couple other
friends around, it will be a party :)
Well, I want to encourage my friends that I haven't heard of yet to write me,
or even DearElder me! I didn't get a chance to bring everyone's address with me
before I left, so if your reading this, I would love to hear from you :)
Friends, cousins, leaders, whoever :)
I love you all, and hope all is going well with you- it's all going well here!!
:)
Love ya,
Sister Hayley Walton
