Well,
this week has been pretty good! It's been a wild ride.
I've
never felt Satans influence more on my mission than any other time in my life-
where there is an increase in good, there is always an increase in bad. This
week, Satan definitely tried discouraging me and making me feel inadequate or
unworthy or whatever. I'm grateful for the simple basic truths that really got
me through that- I know why I am out here, and I know that the power behind me
is far greater than anything else. It was interesting for me to see how I
really coped with it all by just going back to those bias truths that I KNOW- I
am a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father. I am all he has intended for me to
be, and he will help me with the things I need to do. That got me through the
week, and I'm so grateful for that and the peace that it brings.
Sister
Bradley and I had some pretty great lessons with less actives this week! We
teach really well together, which I'm really grateful for. There's so much
fluidity and complimentary aspects to it, and we haven't even needed to
practice for it- it comes so naturally! So that's been really fun for us this
week :)
The
highlight of the week for me (at least the humorous highlight): the branch
president gave us a name, number, and address on a sticky note. We stopped by
the address, and no one was home. So later, Sister Bradley called the number. I
had JUST put a Reese's in my mouth when someone answered with
"¿bueno?"... Sister Bradley had the most terrified look on her face
(DEFINITION of a Kodak moment) when she chucked the phone at me. With the
Reese's still in my mouth, I managed to communicate with the lady on the other
end of the line.
Yeah,
definitely the funniest moment of the week. I wish you could've seen it.
Our
branch is partially Hispanic and partially black/white English. We went to a
farewell for a girl on the Hispanic side of it- what we thought would be an
open house with the other YSAs in the branch turned out to be a family home
evening with a ton of Hispanic families. I translated for sister Bradley
:)
Our
YSA ward is awesome. Pretty much everyone there is super smart and a college
student. When I ask people what they want to do with their major, they usually
say, "oh I want to go on and get my masters or PhD and then teach
maybe". Ha yeah, just full of people who like to be smart and at school.
It's funny to hear their conversations too. It reminds me a bit of BYU and just
is funny to me. Ha the other funny thing is that the missionaries are totally
on the "in" with who's dating who and all that. That's pretty funny,
too. Missionaries know way more than people think we do. :) hehe...
Our
apartment has a gym. That's the best.
There
is also a llama keychain on the car keys. That is awesome.
People
this week were surprised to hear I was American. Not sure what the story is
behind that- maybe I just look foreign? Not sure. People thought I was from
Ecuador, Mexico and Southern California this week.... Ha but I'll take it as a
compliment :)
I
have been so grateful for the time I have been able to spend learning about and
focusing on my savior this week. It was just the greatest thing ever, and I'm
not even going to attempt to explain it through email.
I am
also so grateful to be here- I've not felt so needed in an area/calling my
whole mission. I just feel so sure and so reassured that this is where I need
to be at this time. And I love it. This entire week, I've seen very clear
glimpses that the lords hand has been in this the whole time, and it's all
built up to this, here and now. Between the language abilities (I love being
able to use Spanish here) and the experiences and companions and areas I've
had. I am here exactly at the time and place that The Lord needs me, and he has
prepared me for it. I love it. I've thought about Brazil maybe twice this week.
This is just where I need to be, and it's so awesome.
Well,
that's it for me! Were going to clean the apartment today :D that'll be so
nice.... And then we have three exchanges this week! Wohoooo I'll be learning
our area fast :)
Love
you!!
