One
of our investigators FINALLY kept a commitment we left with her. We asked her
to pray every morning and every night. Sister Bradley even set alarms on her
phone for her to help her remember. She was having a hard time accepting what
we were teaching about how we lived as spirits with our heavenly father before
we came here. So we told her to pray about that in her prayers and ask god if
it was true.
We came
back for our appointment this past week and her countenance had changed. We
asked her if she prayed, and she was so excited to tell us that she had
remembered to pray every morning and every night... And when we asked her if
she had asked about the pre-mortal life thing, she was like, "oh well I
KNOW we lived with god before we came here!"... What? Is is coming from
the same person who was putting up a fight with us about that like four days
ago? Yes. But the trick is that she had prayed, and she came to know for
herself that it was true. Prayer had changed her. Not a ton. Ha but it was a
ton to me! I could see it. It was so cool. And our lesson with her went so much
better, and she was so happy and excited and open to learning more. YES. Prayer
works!
There's
a little Filipeno girl in our branch who's 18. She got to the us in February.
She is here learning English with her family and is just the cutest little
thing. She asked us if she could come out with us (she did that a lot when she
was in the Philippines). We've brought her a couple times, and she doesn't say
much. And what she does say is very simple (much like my Spanish!), but it is
said with power and with the spirit. I love seeing that every time she comes
with us :)
My
new quote for now :) "The sweetest experience I know in life is to
feel a promoting and to act upon it. Then later find out it was the fulfillment
of someone's prayer or someone's need. I want The Lord to know that if he needs
an errand run, Sister Walton will run that errand for him"
That
quote is from Thomas s Monson, but I love it, and I put my own name in it
:)
Obedience
can be hard sometimes. Sometimes we can clearly tell why The Lord asks us to be
obedient to things. But other times, we don't see or understand the reason for
it. This is The Lord blessing us with an opportunity to exercise faith and (in
turn) receive more blessings and stronger faith.
I've
been studying the phrase "walk with god" this week during part of my
personal study. I'm still learning about it, but it's been a sweet study for me
:)
A
Hispanic member of the branch took us to get Mexican food. Oh how I love legit
Mexican food.... :) my stomach was SO HAPPY!!!! It's just the best.
I
love my companion. She is such a sweetheart. I've just been blessed with
amazing companions my whole mission.
I
feel loved and important when people come to me and ask for help or advice or
confide in me or whatever. I get the chance to do that a lot on exchanges. It's
awesome. But also so humbling. And so interesting. Because people come to me
with these situations that I don't even know how to handle. But I just seek the
guidance of the spirit and ask inspired questions to help them help themselves
and grow in their testimony. I love doing that. That's when I feel the best--
just like what that quote said... When I follow a prompting and find out that
it was exactly what that person needed. I feel like I fulfill my purpose in
those moments. :)
Well
that's pretty much it for me! We have two meetings and three exchanges this
week which is kind of hectic, but were excited :)
Love
you all!!!
Sister
Walton
