Oh
man, well this week was pretty fun. Definitely a week of adventures--
Monday,
hermana buys and I went to the city to hang out a little bit.. That was pretty
fun :)
Then
Tuesday, se fue, and I got my new little greenie! She's the only hermana that
came in, and I was the one that The Lord asked to train her (what?) but yeah,
it's been fun :) her name is Hermana Kohlhase (coal- hase). She's 19, from
Peoria Arizona, and super cool.
We
came home, did a little grocery shopping for her (the only food you have coming
in from the Mexico MTC is like Mexican cookies and stuff- those were good,
despite the fact that they got demolished)
Then
we went to the bishops house with the other Hermanas and had dinner with his
family- they are so awesome!
We
talked about doing missionary work, and the parents were like, "oh yeah,
missionary work- we need to do better, we could talk to this neighbor or this
neighbor!"
The
look at the different response of their 15-year old son Oskar- "yeah I go
out with the elders a lot and I placed a few book of Mormons this one time. I
talked to a friend of mine- she's religious, so we talked about our beliefs in
god once. She didn't really want to learn more or talk to the missionaries, but
that's ok- it was an awesome experience and I got to bear my testimony.
There
was another time though when I shared the gospel with a friend of mine who
didn't want to hear anything about god ever. He would laugh at me sometimes
when I brought it up- but he's a good friend of mine and I love him so much.
But then this one day, it was going really rough for him and I bore my
testimony and gave him a Book of Mormon- he's been reading it! I have a lot of
other examples, but man, my testimony... Man, I can't even explain it, this
gospel is just SO TRUE and I LOVE sharing it with people! It strengthens my
testimony and I feel so much love for them, and just want to share something I
love with them. And whether they accept it or not, that's ok because I got to
bear my testimony and I just know it's true"
...
My story details weren't all correct- I don't remember them all haha but Oskar
shared 4+ experiences with us about sharing the gospel with his friends. This
kid is 15. Look at the power of our youth! They are such wonderful examples to
us-- let us be more like them in our love and desire to share the gospel- it is
incredible to be a part of, and I know that what Oskar says is true- if you
share your testimony, it will grow stronger and your love for those you share
it with will be stronger too :)
...
Plus, for you 'more experienced in age' folks, wouldn't it be great to have any
excuse to be more youthful?? Share the gospel :)
Well,
Hermana Kohlhase DOMINATED me in contacting this week (watch out, Chicago!)..
Her first bus ride, she got 3 people who would be interested in hearing more
and invited us to come back... What? Haha I was sitting on the opposite side of
the bus- she did it all on her own. WILD!
We've
been pretty wild missionaries this week (I shared WILD missionary (Moses 6 Enoch)
with her and she LOVES it too!). It's actually kind of addicting, and so fun-
check out what we did this week:
- I
told an Atheist to pray and ask god if he existed
-
Hermana Kohlhase placed a Book of Mormon on her own on the bus
- I
contacted a man on the bus where the conversation started with him saying
"estas linda"
-
Hermana Kohlhase made friends with the people in line at Walgreens
- I
knocked on a car window to invite someone inside to church (Elder Kolo style)
-
Hermana Kohlhase contacted a Russian and a Filipeno
- we
had a half hour before it was time to go inside... We went crazy inviting
everyone to church and got 4 interested people's information in that thirty
minutes
The
bus is our hunting ground, man. I didn't like it too much before, but it's
Hermana Kohlhase's FAVORITE and I'm liking it a lot more too :)
-
the weather was beautiful and balmy this week
- I
had the craziest chorizo burrito ever this week (almost had a heart attack just
looking at the thing)
-
the twins (9 year old sons of a part-member less-active family we've been
working with) are FINALLY on date again for March 22. YES.
- we
climbed in an igloo we found
- we
had an awesome first lesson with a lady we met on the street a couple weeks
ago.
- we
are WILD missionaries. And it's a blast. We are certainly hunters (Jeremiah
16:16 I think) here in the steel jungle of Chicago.
Yep.
Hermana Kohlhase are partying it up here in Chi-town. Having a blast. Being
wild. Sharing the gospel. Making people smile (we are such dorks). Ha I learn
way more from her than she's learning from me, I guarantee it. But we love it.
The
church is just so stinking true. I could tell anyone that all day every day
until my face turns blue, but honestly what good would that do you? Our
invitation is to hear our message, then go ask God! He knows everything, and he
can tell you if were totally wrong or not. He is our loving Heavenly Father--
why NOT talk to him? Why NOT ask him? You don't need to take our word for it :)
Gosh,
I just looooove being a missionary. It's one heck of an adventure!!
Love
Hermana
